Color, shape, and texture are at the core of my art. I find immense satisfaction in simplifying the natural forms and neighboring objects into a few specific shapes with minimal tones. I thrive by extending myself to the heart of what I wish to represent and portraying its essence.
The subjects are based on the everyday of my surroundings. I am always looking. My intimate connection with the subjects trigger unique color and texture situations. Color flows through my experience, becoming part of the painting as the visualizations depart from strictly observed reality. The texture comes about through intense sessions of constructing, plowing, breaking and re-forging. The process of destroying and rebuilding continues until what’s on the surface represents my progressing impression of the original forms.
